IIMAS UNAM | Assistant Professorship in Social Interactions and Collective Behavior

General Information
Within the framework of the UNAM Subprogram for the Incorporation of Young Career Academics (SIJA), the UNAM Institute for Research in Applied Mathematics and Systems (IIMAS) invites individuals who meet the requirements established in this call for applications—as well as applicable legal provisions—to participate in the selection process for a fixed-term position (obra determinada). This position is offered pursuant to Article 51 of the UNAM Statute on Academic Personnel and corresponds to the rank of Full-Time Associate Researcher “C.” The successful candidate will work in the Department of Mathematical Modeling of Social Systems (DMMSS), specializing in the field of social interactions and collective behavior, and will receive a monthly salary of $25,539.20, plus economic incentives and employment benefits, subject to the following requirements.
Requirements
- Hold a doctoral degree in fields related to psychology, anthropology, or sociology, awarded by a recognized and prestigious institution, and possess postdoctoral experience (or its equivalent) in the subject areas of this call for applications.
- Have published research articles in internationally circulated, strictly peer-reviewed journals.
- Preferably possess experience in teaching and/or human resource training at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.
- Demonstrate interest—and preferably experience—in academic outreach, dissemination, and/or public engagement.
- Possess effective communication skills in both Spanish and English; in cases where Spanish proficiency is lacking, formally commit to acquiring competence within a reasonable timeframe.
- Candidates must be under 39 years of age for women, and under 37 years of age for men, in accordance with the provisions established in the SIJA Operational Regulations.
With the aim of promoting the presence of women in research, the participation of female candidates who meet the aforementioned criteria is particularly encouraged.

- A letter of application requesting consideration for this competition, addressed to Dr. Ramsés Humberto Mena Chávez, Director of IIMAS-UNAM.
- A comprehensive curriculum vitae, accompanied by copies of the documents substantiating its contents.
- Two letters of recommendation.
- Proof of the required academic degree or professional title, or, where applicable, documents attesting to their equivalence.
- A letter of commitment stating that, should they be selected, the candidate will resign from their current institutional affiliation.
- A copy of an official form of identification (INE voter ID card, passport, professional license, or birth certificate).
