Artificial Life Education 2026 Spring Workshop for Educators (JAPAN)

We’re bringing together educators and professionals interested in bringing Artificial Life education to their institutions and organizations. Each two-day workshop explores fundamental questions about teaching Artificial Life — Day 1 focuses on the "Why?" and Day 2 on the "How?". We're excited to bring together a diverse range of voices to inform our collective vision for ALife education.

Each two-day workshop explores fundamental questions about teaching Artificial Life — Day 1 focuses on the “Why?” and Day 2 on the “How?” We’re excited to bring together a diverse range of voices to inform our collective vision for ALife education.

Day 1: Why Teach ALife?

We’ll kick off by aligning on shared goals and learning outcomes for ALife education. Expect small group discussions and activities that surface both the challenges and opportunities ALife presents as a teaching domain. The day also features specially curated presentations and a session of lightning talks showcasing ALife education success stories.

Day 2: How to Teach ALife?

Building on the goals developed on Day 1, we shift to practical strategies. Highlights include small group feedback exchanges where you can workshop your own ideas, drafts, or teaching artifacts with peers. Experienced educators will lead introductory tutorials on effective pedagogical practices. We’ll close by building community momentum and planning how to support each other going forward.
